1) What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how the Talk Calories iOS app (“App”) handles information when you use it.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

2) Key summary (plain English)

No accounts. The App does not require you to create an account.
Your food log stays on your device. Entries and targets are stored locally on your iPhone unless you choose to share them yourself.
On-device AI. Meal descriptions are processed on your device using an on-device language model. We do not send your meal text to external AI services.
Analytics may be collected to help us improve the App (for example, feature usage, crashes, and performance). We do not use this for advertising tracking.

3) Information you provide

Meal descriptions and related inputs

When you type (or dictate) a meal description, you may provide information that could be considered sensitive (for example, eating habits).

What we do with it

We use it to generate calorie and macro estimates and to display your logs.

Where it is stored

Your meal logs and targets are stored locally on your device.

4) On-device AI processing

To turn free-text meal descriptions into calorie and macro estimates, the App processes your meal description on your device using an on-device language model.

What is processed

The text you enter describing a meal (and, where relevant, units/amounts you specify).

What is not required

We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or precise location to provide the App’s core functionality.

What is sent off-device

None for AI inference. Your meal text is not sent to external AI services for processing.

Important note

Please avoid entering information you do not want stored on your device (for example, names, addresses, or other highly sensitive personal details) in your meal descriptions.

5) Analytics, diagnostics, and performance data

We may collect diagnostics and usage data to understand how the App is performing and to fix issues. This can include:

crash logs
performance data (for example, app launch time)
device and OS version
basic usage events (for example, feature usage)

How it is used

to monitor stability, fix bugs, and improve the App.

Tracking

We do not use analytics to track you across apps or websites for advertising.

6) Data sharing

We share data only in these situations:

Analytics/diagnostics providers (to monitor usage, crashes, and performance) – see section 5.
Legal reasons if required to comply with law or to protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal data.

7) International transfers

Some service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we take steps designed to ensure an appropriate level of protection is in place (for example, contractual safeguards).

8) Your choices and controls

You can delete your meal logs by deleting the App (and any local app data) from your device.
If you prefer not to send meal text to an AI provider, do not use the estimation feature.

9) Children

The App is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10) Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

11) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective date” above. If changes are significant, we may provide additional notice within the App or on the App Store listing.
